Some stories begin neatly… and then there are the ones that arrive with twists, lessons, laughter, and a touch of divine timing. Ours, definitely belongs to the second category.

Most people are surprised when they hear how we first met. We didn’t bump into each other at a workshop or connect over a shared hobby. We didn’t meet through work or at a community event.

We met because we were both connected to the same man — my ex-husband.

But the real story isn’t about him. It’s about what happened next… and how two women with a shared history found strength, softness, and soul-aligned purpose in the most unexpected way.

The Start of a Journey We Didn't Expect

Life can be complicated… especially the parts involving love, separation, blended families, and all the emotions wrapped around them. But somewhere in that deeply human chapter, a gentle thread was being woven.

When we first crossed paths, neither of us could have known that the universe was setting something bigger in motion — something grounded, spiritual, and quietly transformative, something that would take many years to unfold.

At first, I felt uncomfortable meeting the woman who was about to become such an important part of my daughter Kate’s life, and Phyl was just as nervous about meeting “the horrid ex” she’d heard so much about.

But beneath the awkwardness, the fear and the apprehension was something real which would turn out to be the beginning of a connection neither of us saw coming.

From Shared History to Shared Healing

Over time, as our lives evolved and through the many speed bumps of life, our mutual respect for each other deepened. What could have been awkward or uncomfortable for some became an unexpected bridge between us, especially when Phyl after many years chose to end her relationship and make a fresh start in Mandurah.

That decision created space for a different kind of understanding between us, one built on honesty, courage, and the shared desire to move forward with grace.

We soon discovered we had similar values, similar humour, and even the same fiery Leo spirit - a shared star sign that explains so much about our passion, warmth, loyalty, and the way we both lead with heart. That shared energy helped us recognise something familiar in each other long before we fully understood where this pathway was leading us.

We also realised we carried a shared vision for this chapter of life, one where women in this next chapter, who are redefining age, seek to reclaim their confidence, create calm homes, refresh their personal style, and reconnect with who they truly are. Where women can feel safe talking about ageing and exploring with humour and what it means to step into this phaze of our lives.

And at the heart of our bond is a commitment we both hold very close: our relationship with my daughter Kate (Phyl’s stepdaughter),and our granddaughters, Layla and Hannah.

They are our guiding lights, the future we care for, the reason we choose kindness, and the reminder that family is something we actively nurture with love, respect, and intention.

If anything, our story shows that healing doesn’t always unfold in the ways people expect. Sometimes two women with the same past — and the same bold Leo heart — gently find themselves walking into the same future.

Turning an Unusual Story Into a Sacred One

Many assume that women connected through an ex-partner must be competitive, guarded, or distant. But our story proves that:

Women can choose acceptance.

Women can uplift each other, even when life has been messy or complicated.
